Romance subplots abound in fantasy - but while most fantasy authors are pretty well-versed in worldbuilding and combat writing, fewer of us have made a serious study of romance writing. What goes into crafting a believable romance? Is there a difference between romantic tension and sexual tension? What is chemistry, and how is it evoked on page? Five authors of character-driven romantic fantasy share their best tips, gleaned over years of work, for crafting a romantic subplot to captivate the most hard-hearted reader.

Mothers in SFF rarely live past the first few pages – dead mamas score big on the motivator scale. In truth, it's an easy trope to fall into, because what mother is willing to let their child go off to fight the big bad? But what about the moms who fight the big bad themselves? What about the ones who ARE the big bad? What about older women who have no offspring but are still the main characters of their own stories? Mothers and mature women everywhere, UNITE!

The Alchemy of Sorrow is an SFF anthology of grief and hope. Our stories delve into the experience of grief and loss–of loved ones, of relationships, of a sense of self, of health–and find hope as our characters grow and change and fight their way forward. Here be dragons and magic, time travel and sorrow.
In these difficult times, an anthology of voices speaking to the universal experience of grief, and the power of the human spirit to find hope and to heal, seems vitally important. In this panel, we'll hear from some of the authors, artists, and editors who are bringing this project to life.
